Egypt winger Warda seals surprise Raja Casablanca switch

Egypt international Amr Warda has completed a shock free transfer to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, the club announced on Saturday.

The 29-year-old winger was a free agent after his contract with Cypriot side Apollon Limassol expired this summer.

He had been linked with a return to Egypt as well as moves to Spain and Greece where he previously played.

But Warda instead opted to try his luck in Morocco, penning a two-year deal with Raja until 2025.

The club confirmed the eye-catching transfer in a video posted on their social media.

Warda becomes Raja's fifth signing of the transfer window and will hope to revive his career at the 12-time Moroccan champions.

His arrival ends Raja's long search for a high-profile wide player after missing out on signing Zambia's Fashion Sakala in January.

The winger will be desperate to make an impact in Casablanca where he will become only the second Egyptian to play for Raja after Amr Zaki.

With TotalEnergies CAF Champions League football on the horizon, Raja will hope Warda's undoubted talent can make a positive impact on the field.
