Doula spoke to CAFONLINE.COM:
01-22-2012

CAFONLINE.COM: How do you see your first game against hosts Gabon?
Doula: It’s a very important game as we will face the co-hosts and that would definitely be a strength points for them, as they will enjoy a huge crowd support as expected. But we will go and play for maximum points in this game.

CAFONLINE.COM: How will you face that expected atmosphere?
Doula: We will do our best to make use of the supporters’ pressure on the home team. That could be a disadvantage for them as they will be under pressure to win, and if we were calm and focused we could use that in our favor. Concentration is a very important factor to get something out of this game.

CAFONLINE.COM: With you Niger qualified for their first ever CAN. Would that be a motivation for your team, putting into consideration your performance in last year’s CHAN?
Doula: Yes I think so. That would be an effective factor in our favor. The spirit here is very high and all the players can’t wait to have their debut to be mentioned in history records. They even search for more, and I believe we will even do better than CHAN. Our opponents here are much stronger because of the abroad based players but we have high hopes.

CAFONLINE.COM: What tactic will you adopt?
Doula: Every football game is a mixture of defensive and attacking styles, and depending on our opponents we will treat each game as it deserves.

CAFONLINE.COM: You qualified on the expense of holders Egypt, South Africa and Sierra Leone. How do you see that?
Doula: I believe we deserved to qualify because we played well and also considered how strong our opponents were. We played each game as a separate one and we succeeded at the end. I believe that will motivate my boys as they learnt well how to treat every game and how to respect their opponents without exaggerating or fearing anyone. Football has no big or small names; it just gives the bonus to those who work hard.

CAFONLINE.COM: How were your preparations?
Doula: We prepared well. We had many friendly games and put our hands on the strength and weakness points in our team. I just hope luck would be on our side.

CAFONLINE.COM: Finally congratulations on winning CAF Manager of the year 2011 award.
Doula: Thank you. That was good for me and proved that who works hard gets the prize in the end. But what matters for me is my country’s team success.
