The eliminatory phase of the Linafoot championship (National Football League) in DR Congo was marked by the defeat of Motema Pembe Daring Club, that was fourth in the last edition. DCMP got trapped by Tout Capable Elima 2-0 on February 7 in Matadi. During their first encounter, Elima had beaten Motema Pembe by 3-0.

During the qualifying phase, seven teams had obtained their tickets for the rest of the competition, joining the defending champion, TP Mazembe.

Teams that have qualified are Saint Eloi Lupopo of Lubumbashi, Sanga Balende of Mbuji Mayi, AS.V. Club of Kinshasa, Tout Capable Elima and AS Veti Club of Matadi, Tout Solide Malekesa and AS Nika of Kisangani.

Exempted from the first part of the championship, TP Mazembe has left for Zimbabwe to prepare for the Orange Super Cup, during which the team will, on February 21, at home at the Kenya Stadium, confront Stade Malien, winner of the Orange Confederation Cup. The Lubumbashi club has recently been renforced with the signing, particularly, of two Zambian defenders, Hichani Himonde and Stopilla Sunzu who just played the Orange Africa Cup of Nations in Angola. The two internationals will not be in a strange land considering that last season they played with the jersey of the « Crows » of the attacker Given Singuluma, who emerged highest goal scorer of the CHAN in Ivory Coast.
