Mighty Warriors intensify preparations for Women Championship tie
01-03-2012

Zimbabwe women’s football team will engage their Malawian counterparts this Saturday in Blantyre as both sides sharpen up for the preliminary round for African Championship matches later this month. The Mighty Warriors will play against Botswana while Malawi takes on Zambia in the steps for the race to Equatorial Guinea 2012 African Women’s Championship finals.
Malawi and Zimbabwe will be meeting for the first time since an 8-2 win for Mighty Warriors during the regional COSAFA Championship played last July in Zimbabwe,
Zimbabwe has recalled striker Rufaro Machingura to the side after she last played for the national team during the COSAFA competition. Ironically she scored five goals in that (8-2) win over Malawi.
Mighty Warriors coach Rosemary Mugadza was quoted saying "We will get the preparation we need against Malawi. We thoroughly beat them during the Cosafa tournament but they played well and reached the semi-finals. They are also preparing for the African qualifiers and it will not be an easy game." Concluded the Mighty Warriors coach.
