NEWSDecastel looking for more trophies with Esperance 01-10-2012
Tunisian champions Esperance presented their newly appointed Swiss manager Michel Decastel who signed a 2 year contract with the club to succeed Tunisian Nabil Maaloul. Maaloul resigned recently after leading Esperance to a historical treble winning Tunisian league and Tunisian Cup in addition to the 2011 Orange CAF Champions League. Decastel told a press conference he was pleased to return to Esperance whom he has coached before. " II wish to build on the amazing results the Blood and Gold club achieved last season with Maaloul" Decastel said. The Swiss considered his job as a very difficult one after Maaloul's last season achievements. "We have to play for 4 titles, starting with the CAF Super Cup. I hope we play with the same will and commitment the team showed and that led them to last year's treble", he added. Regarding new signings Decastel insisted Esperance currently has the best group of players that he would like to keep with him, and to strengthen the team with one or two new recruits. He considered the pressure on his shoulders normal as everyone is looking for more trophies. Decastel mentioned Real Madrid and Barcelona as examples for of teams continuously search for titles and said that Maaloul did a great job which he would like to continue. Decastel, 56 chose Lotfi Qadri as his assistant, and said that he'll travel to Morocco then Switzerland to end some personal business before starting his job with Esperance next Saturday. He put a physical program with the fitness specialist for the team to follow this week and arranged for four friendly games to be played starting next week. Decastel has an Orange CAF Champions League runner up medal with Moroccan side WAC last season losing to Esperance in the final, and his Esperance hiring was due to his huge experience with Tunisian sides having managed Esperance, Etoile du Sahel and CS Sfaxien before. |
