Orange CAN draw on 20 November

The Confederation of African Football will conduct the draw for the Orange Africa Cup of Nations on 20 November 2009 from 14:00 GMT to 16:15 GMT at the International Conference Centre   Talatona in Luanda, Angola.
 
The ceremony, which will be witnessed by CAF President Issa Hayatou and CAF executive committee members, will also have in attendance the 16 finalists , teams representatitives , expected to emerge from the on going qualifiers.
 
During the draw, the 16 finalists will be divided into four groups of four teams.   The top team from each group will qualify to compete in the knock-out stages, winners will qualify to play in the quarters-finals, then the semi-finals before the final.
 
Criteria :
 
For each of the last three African Cup of Nations final tournaments, the following system of points is adopted for the qualified countries :

The last three Cup of Nations will be taken into consideration.
 
Nevertheless, it was decided to give the most recent editions more importance in the determination of the seeded teams, the 2008 edition’s points are multiplied by 3 and the 2006 by 2.
 
N.B.: If two teams have the same number of points, their match results in the final tournament of the three editions will be used in order to classify them (3 points are awarded for a match
won, 1 point for a draw match and 0 point for a defeat ).
 
 
The Orange Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Angola from 10 to 31 January 2010. The competition will be played in four venues: Luanda, Cabinada, Benguela and Lobango.
 
Egypt won the last competition a record 6 times in Ghana: 1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006 and 2008
 
 
All qualified teams for the Orange Africa Cup of nations will be known after the last match on 15 November between Ghana and Mali.
