Equatorial Guinea Confirms Its Coach Till Next ACN

The Head Coach of the Equatorial-Guinean football team, the Paraguayan Carlos Lobo Diarte, has prolonged his contract up to the 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations, which Equatorial Guinea will be hosting alongside Gabon, the Secretary of State for Sports, Ruslan Obiang Nsue, announced Thursday.
The former Paraguayan international, having played in Valence, Saragosse, Salamanque and Real Betis in Spain, equally in Saint Etienne in France, Carlos Diarte started his career as an attacker at the age of 16 in Olimpia Asuncion with which he emerged championed of Paraguay in 1971.
At the end of his career as a player, he coached several teams in Spain and Paraguay and then he took charge of “Nzalang” of Equatorial Guinea which he led to the final of the CEMAC competition (Economic Community of Central African States) against Central Africa Republic (0-3).
He would have the difficult task of leading Equatorial Guinea to the final phase of the 28th Orange Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament which the country has never participated in.
