The Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) Sudan 2011 symposium ended with participants satisfied with the proceedings of the event.

The maiden edition in the history of the tournament designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues was held from 12-14 June in Cairo, Egypt, with the aim of providing a platform to discuss and exchange of views with respect to the tournament.   The symposium also afforded participants to have a technical and tactical evaluation of the tournament from different perspectives.

Speakers included Hussein Abdel Monein, CAF Football Development Director, and CAF Technical Committee members; Fathy Nossier (Egypt), Ben Kouffie (Ghana) and Ali Gagarine (Sudan). There was also a presentation from Sami Trabelsi, coach of the Tunisian winning team. Trabelsi described the event as fruitful as it gave him the opportunity to exchange tactical and technical ideas with his colleagues from the rest of the continent.

“It was a fruitful session. We exchanged views and I am happy to be part of this event. Winning the tournament was a milestone in my career, and I very glad I had an opportunity to discuss it,” Trabelsi said.

On his part, Lito Vidigal, coach of Angola said: “I will take home lots of benefits from the symposium.  I enjoyed it very much and learnt a lot too. I thank CAF for the initiative. Also, I believe all the participants benefited too.” Also present were coaches of the 16 teams that participated at the CHAN Sudan 2011 tournament.
