DR Congo beat Gabon away
03-13-2010

Defending champions, DR Congo took giant strides towards qualifying for the finals of the next edition with a 2-1 win over Gabon in Libreville.
The convincing result puts the Leopards in pole to grab one of the three slots alloted the Central Zone for the final phase of the tournament designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues.
The Congolese who dominated the encounter from the onset took the lead on 24 minutes through T.P. Mazembe midfielder Alain Kaluyituka Dioko. The offensive midfielder authenticated the lead just before half time after weaving his way through the Gabon defence, beat two defenders and rounded the goalkeeper before firing into the yawning net.
The Gabonese resumed strongly and succeeded in reducing the deficit four minutes from time through Yohan Ngualama, however the much needed equalizer never came.
The second leg is slated for the Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa in a fortnight, with the winner after both legs grabbing their ticket to Sudan 2011.
