Chedli revels in milestone achievement
Tunisia midfielder Adel Chedli is reveling in the historic feat of becoming the first player to win both the Africa Cup of Nations and the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The 34-year old was influential as the Carthage Eagles emerged winners of the second edition of the CHAN after beating Angola 3-0 in the final on Friday in Omdurman.
The France-born midfielder, a member of the Roger Lemerre squad that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations title seven years ago tells Cafonline.com he is proud of the achievement.
“I am very happy to be part of history. There is no major difference between winning the Africa Cup of Nations and the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
“I have always played my best for my country and I feel proud with the achievement.”
Chedli, currently on the roster of Etoile du Sahel is hoping that the feat will be a major step towards restoring peace and unity in Tunisia.
“My major concern is my country and I hope the victory will help make things better. These are difficult moments and I am optimistic, things will return to normal soon.”
The hardworking midfielder, a former France youth international has also played for Saint Etienne, Sochaux, Istres all in France, German side Nuremberg FC Sion in Switzerland and Al Shaab in the United Arab Emirates.
