We can build on this good work – Lito
Angola’s coach Lito paid tribute to his team for a great tournament that saw them finish second in the Africa Nations Cup 2011 after losing out to Tunisia 3-0 in the final in Khartoum, Sudan. Angola surprised all and sundry by reaching the final where they contained the technically better Tunisians for a good part of the match. Lito was however disappointed that his side had not played as well as he would have liked, “We did not play that well tonight and l am not pleased with that but when you consider that l have been coach for just one month l think reaching the final counts as an achievement” said Lito
The coach chose to focus on the positives and told cafonline that while he would have liked more time to prepare the team before the competition he is reassured by the team’s performance at CHAN, “Finishing second is a good starting point for the work l intend to do with this team “It’s the first final we have reached and l am proud of my players “said Lito. The coach went onto say that he had been impressed by the hospitality of the people of Sudan who adopted his team and supported them all the way. “Congratulations and well done to Sudan for hosting a good tournament” said Lito. Lito concluded by saying he was positive that Angola Football Association would set up programmes to build on the success and good run that The Palancas Negras had had in CHAN competition, “ This team can go far and l know the football authorities will support our work” said Lito
