NEWSGabon-Equatorial Guinea 2012 COCAN teams in Cairo for meetings with CAF 05-13-2011
A fifteen (15) men strong delegation from Gabon-Equatorial Guinea 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations organising committee was in Cairo to meet with CAF to discuss operating issues and fine –tune preparations for next year’s tournament. Mr Sickout Francois Joseph, the general co-ordinator of of COCAN Gabon and Mr Filiberto Ntutumu Nguema ,general coordinator of COCAN Equatorial Guinea led the team for the two day working meetings , May 6 and 7 , with CAF whose team was headed by the organistion’s Secretary General, Mr Hicham El Amrani. Amongst the subjects of discussion and consultation was ticketing accreditation accommodation and marketing as the teams also looked ahead to the next CAF inspection visit Gabon amd Equatorial Guinea later this month. According to Mr Sickout Francois Joseph the delagation had successful meetings and detailed operational aspects were covered in this necessary stage of reviewing and assessing the progress and challenges so far. Mr Fernando Hermes Vegas added that he strongly believes the continued interaction and communication with CAF is key to process of undertaking of this huge event, the continent’s flagship football competition. We value this excercise which ensures that we are on the same page with CAF as we work on strengthening areas that need more attention and also clarify matters that may arise from the nature of co-hosting , which what this event will be a jointly hosted competition. The meetings took place on the heels of a CAF inspection visit to be Gabon and Equatorial Guinea to be led by Mr Almany Kabele Camara from 19th to 26th of May. The Gabon- Equatorial Guinea 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations will run from 21st January to February 12th. The opening match will take place in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea while the final will be played in Gabon , with the CAF Congress also taking place in Gabon. |
