Ghana and Tanzania advanced to the next round of the qualifiers for the 2012 African Women’s Championships with convincing wins in their second leg preliminary matches over the weekend. The Black Queens of Ghana completed a double over Mali with a 5-0 win Accra to qualify 8-0 on aggregate, whilst Tanzania humbled Namibia 5-2 in a similar encounter in Dar es Salaam to go through 7-2 on aggregate. Burly forward Safia Abdul Rahman scored twice just as Portia Boakye whilst veteran Florence Okoe completed the rout in the closing stages of the game. For the Twiga Stars, a brace each from Mwanahamisi Omari and Asha Rashid and other from Eto Mlenzi was enough for them whilst Elnarie Fredericks and Juliana Skrywer were on target for the Namibians. Elsewhere in Conakry, Guinea were stunned 0-5 by visiting Cote d’Ivoire as the Ivorians went through 10-1 on aggregate. In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia beat Egypt 4-0 and book their place at the next round 6-4 on aggregate. At the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, Malawi beat Zambia 4-2 but the She-Polopolo marched on 9-4 on aggregate.
