Equatorial Guinea, South Africa for AWC final
FINAL of the 8th African Women Championship (AWC) 2012 will be between hosts Equatorial Guinea and South Africa (Banyana Banyana) on Sunday at Malabo Stadium.
Both teams made to the final after winning their semi final matches played on Wednesday. Banyana Banyana ousted defending champion Nigeria (Super Falcons) after a first half goal that gave them a 1-0 victory on the second semi final played at Nkoantoma Stadium in Bata while Equatorial Guinea won first semi final by 2-0 against Cameroon.
In Malabo, Cameroon put a brave fight but could not resist pressure from Equatorial Guinea's striking force led by team captain Genoveva Anonman. Hosts scored their first goal just seven minute after kick off through central striker Gloria Chinasa. The scorer headed home a good cross from right flank taken by Jade Boho who received a pass from Maria Nobre.
Anonman who has five goals in the tournament so far scored the second goal for Equatorial Guinea in the 40th minute through a volley at the edge of the box that beat Cameroon's goalkeeper Flore Ngo Ndom. Referee Aissata Amegee from Togo caution two players- one from each team for foul play.
Before the final match at 5.30pm, there will be a classification match between the semi final losers at the same stadium starting at 2.30pm.
