Deja vu for Burkina Faso and Malawi
03-31-2009

Semi-final losers, Burkina Faso and Malawi will meet in the third-place match at the ongoing 8th CAF U-17 Championship in Algeria on Wednesday in Zeralda.

The clash expected to set the stage for the final game 24-hours after will also present both teams an opportunity of returning to their respective countries with at least a bronze medal.

The clash is a repeat of the Group B match which ended 2-0 in favour of the Burkinabes, who are highly tipped to replicate a similar feat to claim the bronze prize.

The coaches of the two sides, Danton (Burkina Faso) and John Kaputa (Malawi) face a difficult task of building up their players after the disappointment of having lost out on a place in the grand finale.

But the Burkinabes are highly favoured having emerged as one of the best teams at the championship and if their performance is anything to go by then, Malawi will be for another great test.

From their earlier meeting, both teams have an idea of each others tactics and it behooves on the coaches to exploit the weaknesses on the other to claim the bronze.

Brazilian-born coach of Burkina Faso, Danton insists his team will approach the game very seriously in their quest to finish as the third best U-17 team in Africa.
"We will approach the game with the level of seriousness as previous games. We will fight as we have always done and I'm sure we will claim victory."

His Malawian counterpart, Kaputa is hoping to amke the best of lessons from their previous meeting on their second meeting.
"I have studied their game plan very well, and will devise a strategy to oust them."

On Thursday in Dar El Beida, hosts Algeria will square off Gambia in the grand finale.
