Niger booked their place in the semi finals of the CAF U-17 Championshio ongoing in Algeria 17 by beating Zimbawe 1-0. In as much as the Zimbabweans put up a good resistance during the first half and with a few set pieces they just did not execute the skills to score. 

With a good goal keeper, the Burkinabes were able to have a clean sheet by the end of the first period.

Abdoulaye Ousmane however broke the deadlock in the 47th minute giving Niger the lead. Niger played a rather offensive game throughout the match and came close to increasing the tally in 57th and 67th minutes. 

Coupled with a physical advantage over the Zimbabweans Niger held on to their one nil lead and consequently earning their place in the semis 

Niger coach, Frederick Akosta expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance that earned them a ticket to the medal zone on their maiden appearance at the cadet championship.

"I am very pleased we have achieved our objective which is the qualification for the FIFA World Cup.
“We must now continue from here and am sure we will go far. Zimbabwe gave us a strong challenge and I strongly believe we deserved the victory.”

Despite the loss, Zimbabwean coach Lloyd Mtasa was impressed with his players output.
"We started the competition very badly, but there was an improvement today. We hope to go a step further in our last game against Malawi to return with at least a point.”
