NEWSZimbabwe women’s U-20 beat visiting Mozambique in first leg 02-20-2012
Zimbabwe women’s U-20 side will take a commanding 4-0 lead into the second leg of the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2012 qualifer after beating their Mozambiquian counterparts in Harare over the weekend. The home-side scored through striker Rufaro Machingura (a brace), Elizabeth Chaparangana and Emmaculate Msipa. The Zimbabweans lead by goals going into the break and had raced to a four nil lead by the 56th minute before slowing down. The visiting Mozambique side who were playing in their first ever international game found themselves outplayed and according to their coach Carlos Manuel, We lost to a better side and Zimbabwe played well. This is a new team we brought here as we rebuilding so hopefully in the return match we will do better. This is our team for the future," said Manuel. Meanwhile his counterpart the winning coach welcomed the result but said the performance could still improve. “There is still some work to do for the team to really gel but we are getting there. I am happy with the result and looking forward to the return leg.” Said coach Langton Giwa. |
