Tunisian women defeated Kenya 2-1 in the first leg of U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup African qualifiers second round played on Saturday in Nairobi, Kenya. The visitors took an early lead following a penalty converted by Ella Kabachi in the seventh minute, which forced the host to launch a series of thwarted attacks. Seven minutes before the break, the visitors struck again, taking advantage of a goalkeeping error to slot in the second goal. In the second half, the Kenyans came in reorganised and determined. Their effort paid off in the 71st minute when Jekpurui Sharon score to reduce the tally. Not ready to give up the lead, the Tunisians stood their ground and attacking cautiously. Kabachi came closer to scoring again as the time ticks away only for her effort to stopped by the goalkeeper. Reacting to the result at full time, Kenya’s Florence Adhiambo it was a good game but there was much pressure on the players. Kenya now faces an uphill task as they confront Tunisia away for the second leg. To get to this stage, Kenya lost 2-1 to Zambia away before hammering them 4-0 in Nairobi. The Tunisians beat Morocco 1-0 away and also hammered them 5-0 in Tunis. |
