NEWSFalconets in a 3-0 win over Young Mighty Warriors 04-01-2012
Nigeria's U-20 women’s team laboured to a home win over visiting Zimbabwe in the second round first leg of the 2012 FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifier played at MKO Abiola stadium in Abeokuta. Goals from Francisca Ordega and Esther Sunday gave the Nigerians a 3-0 victory. Striker Ordega broke the deadlock in the 28th minute before she assisted Sunday in scoring the second at the start of the second half. Ordega then capped a fine afternoon‘s work by scoring the third for Falconets and her second in the 80th minute. Falconets coach Edwin Okon thought his side should have scored more goals from the chances they created, "Every game has its own lesson, and we’ve taken some lessons from today's game. We missed lots of good scoring chances; I will work on it before the return leg in Harare. I think the race for Japan is over for the Zimbabweans, they can't turn the tables against us at their ground," he said. Meanwhile Zimbabwean coach Langton Giwa was of the opinion that his charges will turn it round in the return fixture.”In our backyard in the reverse fixture we will change the result; this contest is not yet over for us “he said. The winner of the two-legged fixture will face the winner of the encounter between Congo and Mali. |
