NEWSYoung Scorpions sting Lone Stars 07-26-2010
Gambia’s Young Scorpions eased past Sierra Leone 4-1 in their first round first leg Orange African Youth Championship qualifier on Saturday. Playing at their favourite Independence Stadium in Bakau, the Gambians outplayed their guests to register the convincing win which puts them in pole position to reach the final round of qualifiers. However, it was the Sierra Leoneans who went up first through Souleymane Camara, who capitalised on a defensive blunder by the hosts to score the opener. Mahmoud Saine drew parity for the hosts at half time to give the first session even. The Gambians went on rampage in the second half and succeeded in scoring three goals through Omar Jasseh, Buba Jallow and Alasane Camara to finish the game 4-1. The Young Scorpions will trek Freetown in a fortnight for the second leg. |
