South Africa replaces Libya as CAF U-20 hosts

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has chosen South Africa as hosts of the Orange African Youth Championship 2011 due to the current political situation in initial hosts Libya.

The competition will now take place from 17 April - 1 May 2011; against the previous date of later this month (March 18 to April 1).


South Africa will replace Libya in Group A, which will include Mali, Lesotho and Egypt, whilst Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria and Gambia make up Group B.


Tournament venues as well as fixtures will be published at a later stage.


The semi finalists will represent the continent at the FIFA U-20 World Cup slated for 29 July-20 August, 2011 in Colombia     .
