Ugandan champions, Kampala City Council came from behind to beat South African side Supersport United 2-1 in their first leg 1/16th CAF Champions League tie played on Friday at the Nakivubo Stadium, kampala. The result gives the Ugandan champions a slim-lead ahead of the second leg billed for South Africa in a fortnight. Liberian-import Anthony Laffor put the visitors in the lead two minutes from recess before second half strikes from Robert Ssentongo (51st) and Brian (58th) minutes secured victory for the hosts. Elsewhere in Tripoli, Libyan champions Al Ittihad were held to a one all draw by Al Merrikh of Sudan. Striker Mohamed Zubya opened the scores for the homers two minutes into the second half before veteran Haitham Tambal drew parity on 74 minutes with a superb strike. The winner after both legs advances to the 1/8th stage of the continent’s prestigious club competition. |
