NEWSPost match reaction – Ahly v TP Mazembe 07-09-2012
Houssam El Badry (Ahly manager) “I’m very happy with this result. It’s extremely important to win our first game in the group stage. I was worried because my international players were tired and also mentally affected after Egypt missed on 2013 African Cup of Nations qualification, but they managed to take their responsibilities as expected. I have to support our keeper Sherif Ikramy, it’s just a mistake and things like this happen in football. It’s still a long way from that blunder now and now we’ll start thinking of our next game against Zamalek”. Lamine N’diaye (Mazembe manager) “I have to admit I’m very sad after losing this match. We deserved at least a draw and we were just a few seconds away from that. But we still have strong chances to qualify from this group. This group is very tough and includes some of the biggest teams on the continent. We’re looking forward to victory against Berekum Chelsea to make amends for this defeat”. |
