Both sides still in with a chance for the title - El Badry
Egyptian giants Al Ahly were forced to a 1-1 draw at home by Tunisia’s Esperance in the 2012 Orange CAF Champions League final 1st leg played on Sunday at the Alexandria Burg EL Arab Stadium. Ahly manager Hossam El Badry doesn’t see the draw as a bad result for his team and told Cafonline.com after the game that both teams still have chances to lift the Champions League title in the return leg in a fortnight’s time in Tunis.
Cafonline.com: What did you make of the 1-1 draw against Esperance in the Champions League final 1st leg?
El Badry: It’s not a bad result; I can say it’s all square and even and this keeps both sides still in with the chance to win the trophy in the return leg in Tunis.
Cafonline.com: Will the goal Ahly conceded at home make your mission in Tunis a more difficult one?
El Badry: It’s not difficult for Al Ahly to go and reverse the situation in Tunis and win the trophy. It’s not unusual or impossible because Ahly have achieved that before. And if Esperance managed to score here, we also can go and score there and win the match.
Cafonline.com: How do you evaluate Ahly’s performance today?
El Badry: We played well in most of the game and had the luck stood with us we should have scored more goals, especially from the chances that Abou Treka had in both halves. We conceded from a defensive error but despite that we could have won the game. Nothing is decided yet in this final.
