Zanaco coach Wedson Nyirenda has said he is seeking the same inspirational run as that of three-time winners TP Mazembe of DR Congo's triumph in last year’s Orange CAF Champions League.

Zanaco, Zambia's representatives in this year’s competition, kickoff their outing this Friday afternoon away to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in Kampala in a preliminary round, first leg match.

Nyirenda has said Zanaco has bolder ambitions of going better that his former team Zesco United’s feat in last year’s Champions League and whom he led to back-to-back league titles in 2007 and 2008.

Zesco were the first Zambia club to reach the lucrative group stage of the Champions League in last year’s campaign.

"Our aim is to win the Africa club championship," Nyirenda, the former Kaizer Chiefs striker said on the eve of Zanaco's departure for Uganda on Monday.

"If TP (Mazembe) can do it there is no reason we can’t. We also want to reach the same milestone."

Winner over both legs between Zanaco and URA will advance to the first round where they will take on 1998 champions ASEC Mimosa of Cote d'Ivoire who they host during the weekend on March 19-21.
