Interclube in home win over ASEC Mimosas
Angolan club side InterClube put home advantage to full use and collected maximum points in a 1-0 win over visitors, ASEC Mimosas from Cote d’ Ivoire in match day of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup group stage game played at Luanda’s June 22 Satdium. Jose Gomes Capuco scored the all important goal in the 28 minute after assistance from the Ze Augusto to leave InterClube on four ( 4 ) points from two matches.
InterClube went in search of domination and goals from kick off pressing and probing ASEC who in return looked set to impose their own game on the hosts. The evenly balanced game swung from one end to the other with a more cautious ASEC using counter- attacks tactics to good effect.
After several attempts and on goal Interclube were rewarded for their patient build ups when a move that started on the left wing saw a perfect pass from Ze Augusto finished off by Capuco sending the enthusiastic home crowd in raptures.
The Angolans had chances to increase their lead through Minguito and Paty but both could not put away the opportunities . There was an expulsion in the 63rd minute for a second bookable offence for Yoku leaving the visitors to play the rest of the match one man short. ASEC Mimosas had their own share of opportunities to score with the best of the bunch falling to Mensah who went close only to be denied by the goalkeeper Tsherry. And in other times the Angolan defence stood solid coming to the rescue of the vital three points.
As a result of the win InterClube now have four points in Group A with ASEC on one point. The other group match pits Tunisia’s Club Africain against Nigeria’s Kaduna who both currently sit on a point each.
