Sunshine Stars , Nigeria’s remaining representative in the Orange CAF Champions League kicks off the mini-league phase of the competition with a home game against Esperance of Tunisia this weekend. Sunshine captain Oboabona Godfrey told CAFONLINE.COM that he and his team-mates are ready and can hardly wait for the match against the defending champions.

CAFONLINE.COM:How prepared are you and your colleagues for this weekend encounter against the defending champions?

GODFREY:Yes we are training well and preparing hard for the encounter because we know it will be a tough match. It is not going to be an easy game against the defending champions but we are ready to do battle and we can hardly wait for the match to start.

CAFONLINE.COM: Are feeling any pressure as the captain of the team going into this crucial game and what additional responsibilities are you carrying to the field of play?

GODFREY: Yes, there is a little bit of pressure but nothing I cannot handle as captain. I have to talk to my colleagues on the need to be focused on what we need to do to ensure victory and not to be distracted. I have to be a leader on the field and bring everyone together.

CAFONLINE.COM: What must Sunshine aim to get out of this first match in the mini league?

GODFERY:We must avoid defeat and instead seek to win this match and all our home matches if we want to progress further in this competition. As for the away matches we look to get draws or victory and that is how we can make semi-finals and qualify from the group.

CAFONLINE.COM: What is your take on Esperance and what do you expect from them in this match?

GODFERY: Esperance is a good side and we have to respect them, they are the defending champions . We will however not play against them with any but respect and eagerness to beat what is a very good side. It is not easy to win this cup and the name Esperance club is big but we are not afraid of them. All that will not affect us we will match them man for man.

CAFONLINE.COM: Do you see the result of last weekend defeat in the Federation cup impacting your psyche as you take on Esperance this weekend?

GODFREY:Domestic competitions is different.We have put behind us the defeat and are focused on victory this weekend.We have prepared hard for this match and we are sure we will come out victorious.
