NEWSWe are obliged join the group stage – Interclube coach Pedroto 07-14-2012
Interclube of Angola faces Dynamos of Zimbabwe on Sunday at Luanda’s 22 de Junho Stadium in the second leg of the second quarter of the Confederation Cup in soccer. After holding Dynamos to a 0-0 draw (0-0) in Harare in the first game, the Angolan team believes they can better that result and go better than their semi-final finish in the same competition last year.In an interview with CAFONLINE.COM, Interclube coach, Portuguese Bernardino Pedroto, said the team's objective was to win and knock the Zimbabweans out of the competition. CAFONLINE.COM: What is the state of mind of the players and coaching staff for the deciding game on Sunday? Pedroto: I believe we are in good shape and position to do well this weekend and mont a challenge to win the competition. However, I anticipate that the tasks we have to accomplish in this game will be extremely difficult. Dynamos are a team that plays good football and have a good history in continental club competition . We encountered some difficulties in the first game and thanks to competitive nurture our team was able to bring back a positive result. Now it remains to us to translate effort into victory on the field in the second game this weekend . We must win this game. We can not afford a scoring draw or Interclube is out of the competition. We must win this match. This responsibility, we are prepared to take over and win it all. CAFONLINE.COM: You have gone ten games without losing, what did you make of the display and the result from Harare? Pedroto: The results over ten games have been good. The room for improvement still exists though and we feel that we are not yet at desired levels. The wins are positive and make us confident. We want to win on Sunday and give joy to our fans .We will seek to win because it's the only way to be in the group stage. We can not have other result than this. Win. The result of first-leg match is good if we win on Sunday. Otherwise, nothing will. I asked my players to face the game with determination and build on the display from the good result from first leg match. CAFONLINE.COM: How are the players' coping with the pressure and anxiety ahead of the match? Pedroto: We are all anxious to start the game. This pressure and anxiety will not stop us from playing a good game. Players at Interclube are used to living with that kind of pressure. We know how to handle it for moments such as this. Surely, it will happen. We are confident we will win. Our mission is to win and qualify for the group stage. CAFONLINE.COM: In terms of injuries, how is it the team doing ? Pedroto: Fortunately, we do not have injured. We have just had confirmed suspension of Fabricio who is serving punishment for a second yellow card in Harare. So he will not play this game on Sunday. There are some players who are not yet registered, but will be available in the group stage. CAFONLINE.COM: What worries the team right now? Pedroto: Nothing worries me now. Fortunately, players have regular experience in African club competitions. So, I'm calm. I believe in the team's success. |
