Baye Bah, head coach of Stade Malien, has said his team’s 0-2 defeat against Djoliba in the Bamako derby won’t the club’s ambitions for qualification for the semi-finals of the 2012 Orange CAF Confederation Cup.

Cafonline.com: What do you think accounted for your defeat?

Baye Bah: This defeat should serve as a lesson to us even though I am unable to explain how we lost this encounter. Even though I am disappointed, I congratulate Djoliba for the victory. It is for us to make up in fourteen days.

Cafonline.com: Did the nature of the pitch affect your chances?

Baye Bah: It is football and every team suffers the same fate. Nothing worked for us and it is not the stakes that interfered in the match. It is an African Cup and both teams know each other having met twice this season in the league. This is a collective failure. We will have to reassemble”.

Cafonline.com: Did the absence of your regular goalie add to your woes?

Baye Bah: It could be possible. Also, some of our key players were suspended. I don’t want to blame the players, because I am responsible for their selection. We have lost three points and have not lost out on qualification. This defeat will serve a wakeup call for our next matches, starting with our trip to Casablanca. Our objective remains qualification to the next round.
