Sudanese club side, Al Hilal was grateful for an equaliser by their Zimbabwean international striker Edward Sadomba that cancelled an earlier strike by Kelechi Osunwa opener. Al-Hilal was hosting their arch-rivals Al-Merreikh in Sudan tense derby at Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman city, on match day 2 of the 2012 Orange CAF Confederation Cup group A. Al-Merreik, the visitors got off to a strong start with Zambian striker Jonas Sakuwaha going close to finding an opener after a fine cross from veteran captain Faisal Al-Ajab. Al-Hilal then had their chance after a mistake at the back allowed Senegalese striker Ibrahima Sane through but he could not beat the Egyptian veteran goalkeeper Esam Al-Hadary. The home began to dominate play with their four strikers , Ibrahima Sane, Mudathir Careca and Edward Sadomba supported by Mohannad Al-Tahir. Soon a battle against Merreikh defense line led byIvorian central defender pascal Wawa,Najmeldin and Musab Omer ensued . Al-Merreikh Sudanese international midfielder's Badreldin Galag made the matter worse for his team when he received his second yellow card leaving his side down to ten men. Al-Merreikh’s Brazilian coach Ricardo made changes to accommodate the sending off quickly replacing captain Fiasal Al-Ajab, bringing in midfield-defender Nasreldin Al-Shighe. Al-Merriekh stuck with their balance strategy and made Al-Hilal struggled to reach the Al-Hadray's goal despite dominating the game. Against the run of play Klieche Osunwa put Al-Merreikh in front with a shot that beat home team goal-keeper Almoez Mahgoub on (45+2)minutes of the first half. At the start of the 2nd half Al-Hilal got off to a flyer with an equaliser from Edward Sadomba whose volley flew in to the nets past diving Al-Hadary. Al-Hilal French coach introduced Nigerian and Sudanese international Yussuf Mohamad, Muaoya Fadasi and striker Al-Tahir Hammad respectively, while Al-Merreikh brought on Mohamad'Duffur' Abduallah and RamadanAjab. Both sides had chances to increase the scores with Merreihk’s Musab ‘s goal bound shot saved by Al-Moez and five minutes later Ibrahima Sane dribbled past Al-Merreikh Brazilian central defender Eder Lima and with only Al-Hadary to beat he blazed his effort over the bar. |
