Al-Hilal beat Djoliba 2-0 in Confederation Cup semi-final 1st leg
Two goals by Ibrahima Sane and Mudathir Careca earned Sudanese side Al-Hilal a 2-0 win over Malian giants Djolibain the first leg of Orange CAF Confederation Cup on Friday evening in Omdurman.
The both played an opening game, but Hilal looked more purposeful in their attacking style as Djoliba and tried to focus on building counter-attacks through the young captain Issa Traore and Boubacar Bangoura .
Mudathir Careca made the home side’s first attempt on goal in the 3rd minute but Djoliba's goal-keeper Abdoulaye Diakite smothered his low short while Boubacar Bangoura's shot from a counter went over the bar three minutes later. The home side dominated the game with midfeilders Mohannad Al-Tahir, captain Omer Bakheit and Khalifa Ahmed, pulling strings .
In the minute 44 ,Senegalese Ibrahima Sane put Al-Hilal in the lead, when he flicked on Omer Bakheit high ball from a free kick into an empty net after the goalkeeper came from his line to meet the ball. Two minutes later Djoliba almost to level the score, when Bangoura beat the offside trap only to be denied by a fine save from Al-Hilal goalkeeper Juma Jenaro.
Hilal scored the second goal in the 2nd half, when Mohannad’s through ball found Mudathir Careca who shot past the diving goalkeeper. The two sides meet in the return match in Bamako in two weeks time with the aggregate winner reaching the two leg final.
