Supersport United midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo has set sights on a positive outcome during this weekend’s Orange CAF Confederation Cup clash in Rabat.
The South African champions face Morocco’s lone rangers FUS Rabat in the second leg 1/8th round clash of the second tier club championship in Rabat, with their focus fixed on a place at the mini-league stage.
Matsatsantsa were 2-1 victor in the first leg but Ntshumayelo is very convinced they return from Rabat and move on in the competition.
The woes of coach Gavin Hunt has been heightened with the unavailability of captain Bongani Khumalo due to injury, but the midfielder insists victory is within their reach.
“What is important for us is to accept the situation the way it is and move on. Injuries are part and parcel of the game therefore we will have capable replacements for those who are unavailable for selection.
“However, there’s no pressure at all, we just need to go there and fight to win again. But it’s not going to be an easy one. We did our homework and we are also prepared for clash, Ntshumayelo was quoted on the club’s official website.
The midfielder reckons that their slim advantage is no guarantee for progress, but they will fight for a clean sheet.
“We won with a small margin in the first leg, but if we score more goals away and not concede, that will be fantastic for us. We must ensure that we don’t concede, otherwise we will put ourselves under unnecessary pressure.
Supersport United are hoping to become the first South African club in recent times to participate at the mini-league stage of a major continental club championship.
