Mali captain Seydou Keita has set sights on the ultimate at the 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Keita, who turns 33 four days before their opening Group B encounter against Niger will be making his sixth appearance at the flagship continental event and wants to lead his Eagle team mates back home with the trophy to appease their fans.

The northern part of the West African country is currently engulfed in some unrest and the Dalian Aerbin midfielder, who dedicated last year’s bronze medal feat to the local faithfuls, is hoping to go the extra mile on the achievement ladder this time round.

But 2008 and 2010, Mali has reached the medal zone in 2002, 2004 and 2012; and Keita who has played an actively role in the previous tourneys, expects to cap his reign as captain with the African title which has remained elusive for the Eagles.

“I have a lot to offer to the team and will play my part to steer the team to go far at the tournament in South Africa,” said Keita.

He is by far the most experience player in the team but still has more to offer despite being at the twilight of career which has seen him feature for Olympique Marseille, Lorient and RC Lens, all in France as well as Spanish sides Sevilla and Barcelona.

Ghana and DR Congo are the other teams in the group which will be based in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth.
