NEWSAhly’s El Badry: We are going for victory in the Super Cup 02-22-2013
Egypt’s Al Ahly will take on Congo’s AC Leopard this Saturday in the Orange CAF Super Cup at the Alexandria Burg El Arab stadium. The Egyptian side has won 4 editions of this cup to date and will be looking at adding a fifth. Ahly manager Housam El Badry told Cafonline.com that the game is extremely important for his charges and that they enter the game with only victory on their minds. “This is an extremely important title. The CAF Super Cup is a title we want to win and victory will put our season on the right track. It would be great to win our fifth title. This generation of players needs this victory, and also there are many new players who want to win and make history for themselves”, El Badry said. Regarding Leopards of Congo, El Badry admitted they are a strong team that defied the odds to win the Orange Confederation Cup last year. “I saw many games for them and I know they’re a very good team. Going by what I know of them, we will put our game plan. We will work on penalties. We failed to score from three penalties this season in the domestic league and we’ll train on them before the game. I really don’t want the game to be decided by a penalty shootout and have said to my players we need to try and score early in the match.”, said the trainer who led Al Ahly to their seventh CAF Champions League title last year. Regarding their supporters who will be allowed in the stadium, El Badry said that they will play an important role for his team. “Our supporters are a very big motivation factor to us. We’re waiting for them and know well they could play an important role in seeing us win this trophy”, he concluded. The game kicks off at 18:30 p.m. Egyptian local time. |
