The Egyptian capital, Cairo, from 1-3 May 2016 was the venue for the first ever Video and Information Technology (IT) Technicians course, one of the latest programs of the CAF Refereeing Division in their quest to develop officiating.

The objective of the three-day course in line with the modern trends of refereeing development is to establish a panel of Video and IT personnel to provide technical support especially during Competitions and Courses.

The zonal unions – Central, Central-East, Northern, Southern, West A and West B will also benefit from their services of the technicians during their events.

The technical support will include Instant Feedback Replays during training sessions, recording of games, editing of clips, preparation of teaching materials as well as serving as Video Match Assessors for specific games.

The participants were taken through the basics and techniques of Video Match Analysis and Video Editing under the supervision of Wael Mohamed Elsebaie of the Qatar Football Association.

Twelve (12) persons representing the six CAF zones took part in the pioneering course.
