Frenchman Jose Anigo has been appointed coach of Tunisian giants, Esperance on a two-year deal with an option to extend by another year.

The 54-year old replaces Portuguese Jose Morais who parted ways with the ‘Blood and Gold’ few weeks ago, after a disappointing campaign in the domestic scene and failure to reach the last eight of the CAF Champions League.

Anigo until recently Sporting Director of French side, Olympique Marseille, a club he was associated with for more than a decade, was unveiled at a colourful ceremony on Monday, 22 June 2015 in Tunis.

An official of Esperance, Zied Tlemçani said “Anigo has worked in this kind of environment; knows the requirements, pressure from fans and media, and that’s what motivated our choice. In addition, we discussed with him several times and we share the same values”.

The Frenchman, who will be coaching for the first time in Africa, will be assisted by Bernard Rodriguez and Khaled Mouelhi, with ex-Ivorian shot-stopper Jean Jacques Tizie as goalkeepers’ trainer.

His first task will be against Egyptian giants, Ahly in the Orange CAF Confederation Cup Group A opener scheduled for Sunday, 28 June 2015 in Suez.
