Burkina Faso and Sudan will learn their fate at a draw to be held on Monday, 14 September 2015 by the Organizing Committee of the 11th African Games at 08H00 GMT in the Congolese capital.

The two sides settled for a barren draw in the ultimate Group A match on Sunday at the Massamba Debat Stadium in Brazzaville.

Article 12 (D) of the rules of the competition states “In case of equality of points after all the group matches have been played, the classification of the teams shall be established according to the following criteria:

a) Greater number of points obtained in the matches between the concerned teams.

b) Goal difference resulting from the matches between the concerned teams.

c) Greater number of goals scored away from home in matches between the concerned teams (for the preliminary tournament only).

d) Superior goal difference from all the matches played in the group.

e) Greater number of goals scored in all the matches played in the group”.

As explained above, Burkina Faso and Sudan finished on four points with equal goal difference, forcing the application of Article 39 which states “cases unforeseen in these rules are to be decided upon by CAF competent bodies in accordance with the regulations of the African Cup of Nations”.

Congo finished top of Group with six points despite suffering a lone goal loss against Zimbabwe earlier on Sunday. The hosts will face Senegal at the semis whilst Nigeria will face either Burkina Faso or Sudan.
