Basigi: We will boss Zimbabwe around

Basigi: We will boss Zimbabwe around

Ghana coach, Yusif Basigi is confident of bossing Zimbabwe around when both teams clash in the first leg of the second round 2015 African Games qualifier on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Basigi, who was in charge when the Black Queens bowed out at the group phase at the African Women Championship in Namibia last October told Cafonline.com said "the little information I have of Zimbabwe proves they are a tactically disciplined side. Such teams will always come defending.

“They keep it compact and hope to attack on the break. But we will push and boss them around for results. We have exactly the right plan for such opponents to get the antidote for their tactics. We have to be more attacking and defending as well so that with the little mistake we can hit on counter attack, break and be on our way.”

He said his charges had the quality to prevail at home despite the challenge Mighty Warriors will mount.

“In terms of quality, I’m sure I have the players to do the job. Apart from a little injury worry with our goal keeper, Margaret Otoo, who had problem with her fingers; the rest of the players are all doing well.”

Basigi said his players were self-motivated to win and make the second leg a mere formality.

“The players are self-motivated to win. They want to win at ‘all cost to’ qualify for the 2015 Africa Games. And that is what will happen.”

The Black Queens were 2-1 winners when both teams last played at the All African Games in Maputo in 2011.
