Gambia has received a major boost ahead of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) Rwanda 2016 qualifier against Senegal this weekend in Bakau with the availability of Real de Banjul midfielder, Alagie Bah and striker Emil Sambou of Armed Forces the Scorpions.
Peter Bonu Johnson’s side will be seeking to overturn a 3-1 loss from the first leg held in Dakar a fortnight ago.
The duo has joined the team after missing out in the previous fixture, where the Scorpions were bruised in a heavy defeat.
Bah, a regular feature in the heart of Real de Banjul midfield was influential as the capital club, finished the season runners-up to Gamtel. Sambou plies his trade with the Army team and scored eight goals as the ‘Cakey boys’ finished the 2014/15 season fifth with 31 points.
Bonu Johnson and his charges have been locked in serious training as they seek to overturn the table in Zone West A preliminary round second leg clash billed for Saturday, 4 July 2015 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
“Everybody is living up to expectation. The players have taken the responsibility to make sure they are working for their country and work very hard towards it,” Bonu Johnson told the media.
Captain and goalkeeper Christopher Allen has also called on the fans to come out and trust in the team as they push to overturn the huge deficit.
“We all know that only total commitment and dedication will give us the desired results and as players are highly motivated and dedicated to amend the mistakes we committed in Dakar a fortnight ago.”
