Referees’ Instructors gather for refreshing course

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) organised a course for Referees’ Instructors from 5-9 May 2016 in Cairo, Egypt, aimed at standardizing the teaching methodology and evaluation of technical instructors.


The five-day course, in line with the development of refereeing across the continent was geared towards the establishment of a panel of Technical Instructors to help the designing of a teaching manual for implementation.


It was also to update the participants on the latest technology of Video Clips Editing and review the amendments to the Laws of the Game.


For the first time, there was the involvement from Instructors with specific focus on Assistant Referees with 13 of them making up the overall attendance of 33. Eight women were among the participants drawn from over 20 countries.


Renowned former referees’ An Yan Lim Kee Chong of Mauritius and Zimbabwean Felix Tangawarima were the resource persons.


This is the third time in a year that a course for Technical Instructors has been held.
