Opening of the Technical & Development Committee meeting

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad on Thursday, 8 November 2018, opened the meeting of the Technical & Development Committee in Cairo, Egypt, highlighting on the importance of the Committee to the development of African football.

 

In view of the latest incidents, violence in the stadia, referee refusing to use the VAR, a player tearing his shirt in front of his complicit coach, the President has reaffirmed his willingness to undertake various reforms. Despite the 26 referees who have been sanctioned and the ongoing investigations, the President thinks CAF still have a long way from its objectives of cleaning CAF.

 

He tasked the new chairperson of the committee, Leodegar Tenga, and other 14-members to discuss among themselves and come out with clear and precise resolutions in the short and medium term. The CAF President also gave the committee the green light for the development and implementation of projects that will propel African football to regain its deserved place on the international arena.

 

He further reminded the committee of the statutory restructuring of the zonal unions which have been transformed to development structures and also announced the decision of joint actions on the continent together with FIFA, a result of a recent coordination meeting.

 

Wrapping up, CAF President Ahmad welcomed the new personnel in charge of the Women’s Football Development; Safia Abdeldayem, Head of Women's Football and Meskerem Tadesse Goshime, Women's Football Manager.

 

On his part, president of the committee Tenga lauded the CAF President on the thoughtful exchanges and the confidence reposed in the capabilities of the membership.
