The contribution of CAF President, Issa Hayatou has been rewarded with the inauguration of a foundation in his honour in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. 
 
The foundation christened “Issa Hayatou International Foundation” was inaugurated on the eve of the final match of the maiden edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) which ended last Sunday.
 
The foundation, an initiative of Mr Anioa Niniba together with some friends seeks to support the promotion and development of football on the continent.
 
Among the objectives of the foundation is the provision of technical support in the form of educational materials and infrastructure geared towards the development of football.
Others are providing medical support to the underprivileged in our  society .
 
The foundation also intends to organize conferences and seminars regularly for the youths across Africa on capacity building.
 
Mr Anioa explained that the foundation is to recognize Mr. Hayatou’s contribution to the growth and development of African football, which includes the hosting rights for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the first time the event, will be held in Africa.
 
Benjamin Djedje, Sports Advisor at the Ivorian Presidency also described the contributions of Mr. Hayatou to the growth of African football since assuming the reign as magnanimous.
 
"The African football has made a great leap towards excellence, and the success of most Africans teams and clubs testifies it.”
