Samuel Fabian (Head Coach, Ghana)

What I thought, about the penalties? I think the first was a very clear penalty but I beg to differ on the second penalty but all the same, I want to congratulate the coach of Mali for a job well done. Of course, our first aim was to qualify for the World Cup and thereafter we have achieved that, it was not easy for the boys after the first two matches which they played very well. . Today, we played a good game but still lost; that is football.

if I'm opportune, I won't change anything   to play Mali again because my boys did very well but that is football, we lost. How can we have underrated the defending champions? Our objective was to qualify for the World Cup because Ghana has missed out in the last eight years and if we had won today, it would have been an added bonus. The moment we qualified, preparations for the World Cup has started and we still have some players we left behind because of injuries or commitment for their academies outside; we are hopefully we are going to have some of these players back and put up a formidable team for the World Cup. You will see Ghana in a different way at the World Cup.

Jonas Kokou Komla (Head Coach, Mali)

First and foremost, I want to thank the coach of Ghana for contesting well against us. For three days, we have watched the Ghanaian team and we discovered they have some weaknesses; and what we did was to capitalise on some of their weakness. But the Ghana team is a very good team and we all have seen that we both played a very good game today.

Our objective was to qualify for the World Cup and it was important that we played to get those results that helped us; but today we played even better. There is crisis in our country and problem within the football federation; but I hope this victory will bring peace to our country and our football.

After this victory, we are going to rest, and later we are going to a programme in Côte d'Ivoire in July for the Francophone Tournament while I would also go to Europe to look at some new players that can contribute to the success of the team at the World Cup in India. We want to dedicate this trophy for peace in Mali.
