Niger has officially taken over the mantle as host of the next edition of the Total U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.

The symbolic handover of the flag of the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) to the next host was amongst others the key highlights during the closing ceremony of the 20th edition of the Total U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which saw host Zambia crowned champions after beating Senegal 2-0 in the final.

CAF President Issa Hayatou handed the flag to Executive member of the Niger Football Federation, Issaka Adamou, who joyfully waved the flag to confirm his country’s acceptance to host the next edition of the eight-team tournament.

It will be the second time Niger is hosting a major continental championship after the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.
