About Football Development

In line with the CAF Contract with Africa, the Football Development Division is responsible for a wide spectrum of Technical and Educational issues in the entire African continent, focusing on Men’s, Women’s and Futsal football development.

The Division has four (4) distinct areas of focus:

1. Coach education, development and licensing
2. Refereeing education and development
3. Provision of best practices and strategic planning within the administration of CAF affiliated members
4. Sports Medicine development and research

The division aims to develop more qualified Instructors by conducting seminars, courses and other programs in conjunction with CAF Member Associations to ensure the transfer of knowledge advocated by the CAF Contract with Africa. Instructors are appointed to the relevant fields of football that the Division covers, ensuring a continuous quality educational scheme.

The Division also engages with multiple partnerships to enhance the organization and contents provided. Such partners include but are not limited to FIFA, UEFA and the English Football Association.

On the other hand, aware of its responsibility to support the United Nations system, the Confederation signed as well memorandum of understanding with the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) in 2008 and other agencies to use football as a tool for the promotion of peace, solidarity and education throughout Africa. More information can be found under the “Social Responsibility” section of this website.
