CAF mourns death of former Gabonese forward Manon

CAF President Ahmad has expressed shock at the death of former Gabon forward, Regis Manon.

Manon passed away on Monday, 1 January 2018 after a brief illness. He was 52.

“On behalf of the CAF Executive Committee, on my own behalf and the African football family, I extend my condolences to the Gabonese Football Federation, the breaved family and Gabon football family.

“Our thoughts are with you at this difficult period,” said CAF President Ahmad.

Manon was a member of the Gabon squad that qualified for their maiden Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 in Tunisia. He also played for Les Pantheres at the 1996 edition in South Africa.

At peak of his career, he was a fans favourite at French side, FC Tours. He also laced his boots for local side, FC 105.
