The Coaches Forum, the first of its kind, provided a platform for the trainers of the group stage clubs to interact, exchange ideas and knowledge and as well discuss how to improve the technical and tactical aspects of the premier continental club competition.

“This forum is very important because it bring all the coaches together for them to share ideas, discuss technicalities and also establish contacts with the view to improving the game on the continent,” said CAF Deputy General Secretary, Anthony Baffoe.

Mosimane, who guided Sundowns to the title in 2016 and Mihayo, winner of the CAF Confederation Cup with Mazembe in 2017 shared their success stories with their colleagues, and were joined by Mutebi, whose side KCCA, are in the last 16 for the first time.

“This is a positive initiative by CAF to bring all the coaches of the teams qualified to the group stage under one roof. It allows the coaches to know each other, interact and exchange knowledge. And the exchanges will allow us to educate our administrators and fans back home,” said Ekuevi, trainer of surprise packets, AS Port of Togo.

Mutebi of Uganda’s KCCA also remarked: “the CAF Coaches Forum is fantastic. To get all the coaches at one place is a good thing. I commend CAF and I’m looking forward to more of such opportunities in our quest to take African football to the next level. This is a new generation, new thinking and the enthusiasm is commendable”.

On his part, Mosimane said “It is a great idea, and African football can only improve with such events. The interactions and exchanges between the coaches were lively; rivalry is only on the pitch”.

On the other hand, the Team Managers workshop held every season, tackled extensively topics such as Accommodation, Transportation, Security, Media and Marketing.
