Nyasa Big Bullets beat Be Forward Wanderers rivals 2-1 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe (Saturday, 16 June 2018) in the semi-final to qualify for the final of national knockout competition, christened ‘Airtel Top 8’.

Bullets, Malawi’s most successful club, will face Police outfit Blue Eagles who saw off defending champions Silver Strikers 1-0 last week in the other semi-final.

The knockout competition involves the top ranked eight teams in the top-flight Super League.

Bright Munthali nodded into the net from captain John Lanjesi’s corner kick before former Orlando Pirates striker Chiukepo Msowoya added the second goal before Zicco Mkanda reduced the arrears for Wanderers.

It was the second consecutive defeat for Wanderers under new coach Bob Mpinganjira who was promoted to the position last week to replace Yasin Osman who is now technical director.

Bullets are the only unbeaten team in Malawi’s top-flight football this season after 12 games whereas Wanderers have lost four times in nine games in all competitions.
