ZIMBABWE DOWN HOSTS SHEPOLOPOLO

Zimbabwe  have their noses  in front in the 2018 TOTAL Women’s AFCON final qualifying round first leg following a 1-0 away win over  hosts  Shepolopolo on Wednesday in Lusaka.

The result at Nkoloma stadium left Zimbabwe needing only a draw at home at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on June 10 to seal their place at the Ghana finals this November.

Zimbabwe settled the first leg contests when striker Rutendo Makore scored the winner in the first half.

Makore tapped in a cross in the 18th minute from Berita Kabwe.

Then Zambia suffered a further setback when their top scorer in   the qualifiers with two goals, striker Barbara Banda, suffered an injury and was replaced by Teresa Chewe.

Banda  joins  striker Etas Banda and midfielder Misozi  Zulu   on the  sidelines  who missed the match  due to injuries.

It  wasn’t the bright start  the coach Bruce Mwape had  hoped  for on his debut as  Shepolopolo coach a month after  replacing  Albert  Kachinga who quit to take a club appointment.
