• Launch of a public relation campaign under the theme “African Football Against Hunger” in Cairo, Egypt, October 12th 2009. The press conference taking place on October 12th 2009 marks the start of the PR campaign to raise awareness on hunger in Africa. Football represents a unique platform to help promote FAO activities aimed at reducing hunger. This campaign will be relayed through both CAF and FAO official websites and will include numerous activities involving actors of the African football family, high profile personalities and football players. • CAF Medical Congress, Kigali, Rwanda, December 7th – 10th 2009. Every two years CAF organizes a medical congress prior to the Orange African Cup of Nations in order to discuss the latest medical researches in relation to football and raise the prevention on various issues such as injuries or diseases. FAO will be participating in this event and will have a representative taking part in the official event program, to provide further opportunities for cooperation with the relevant stakeholders and help improve the lives of many individuals living in the poorest regions of Africa. Other joint activities linked to CAF events and competitions will take place in 2010 and will be announced in due time via our official channels. |
